SUNYIT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kenneth Kraft
presented the 2004 William Goodell Research Creativity Award and a $500
stipend to Dr. Amir Fariborz at a Kunsela Hall reception and dinner
Thursday, October 28. Following the dinner, Dr. Fariborz delivered a
lecture detailing his research activities entitled “High Energy Physics:
An Overview of Objectives, Challenges and Outlooks” in Kunsela Lecture
Hall.
An assistant professor of physics, Dr. Fariborz has been a member of the
SUNYIT faculty since 2000. His research is in “theoretical high energy
physics with the main focus on the theory of the strong nuclear force.”
The Goodell Award recognizes superior performance in the area of research
and creativity. Dr. Fariborz was chosen for the honor by the SUNYIT
Graduate Council Scholarship/Research Awards Committee, and his name will
be added to the Goodell Award plaque, which is permanently displayed on
the second floor of Kunsela Hall.
