SUNYIT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kenneth Kraft presented the 2004 William Goodell Research Creativity Award and a $500 stipend to Dr. Amir Fariborz at a Kunsela Hall reception and dinner Thursday, October 28. Following the dinner, Dr. Fariborz delivered a lecture detailing his research activities entitled “High Energy Physics: An Overview of Objectives, Challenges and Outlooks” in Kunsela Lecture Hall.

An assistant professor of physics, Dr. Fariborz has been a member of the SUNYIT faculty since 2000. His research is in “theoretical high energy physics with the main focus on the theory of the strong nuclear force.”

The Goodell Award recognizes superior performance in the area of research and creativity. Dr. Fariborz was chosen for the honor by the SUNYIT Graduate Council Scholarship/Research Awards Committee, and his name will be added to the Goodell Award plaque, which is permanently displayed on the second floor of Kunsela Hall.
