Kevin King

Date of Birth: July 14, 1980 - Bastille Day in France. Kevin liked the fact that he was born on a holiday.

Place of Birth: Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. Kevin weighed 6 lbs, 6 ounces and was born one month early.

Favorite Sports: Golf, Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Weight Lifting,Skiing, Tennis and Fishing

Favorite Team: Florida Gators - When Kevin met Coach K of Duke University, he asked Kevin who his favorite team was and Kevin responded that his favorite team was the Gators, not the Blue Devils. Kevin's favorite baseball team was the NY Yankees.

Favorite Music: Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Bob Dylan

Favorite Movies: Goonies, Braveheart and Grumpy Old Men & Grumpier Old Men (He had memorized all the lines at the end of that movie.)

Hobbies: Baseball card collecting. Collecting beer caps, beer bottles and mugs.

Favorite Passion: People - Kevin was a "people person."

Goals: To be happy first, and successful second.

Career Choice: To go into business with his father after graduation.

Favorite School Subject: Gym, English and Religion.

Least Favorite Subject: Spanish

Favorite Snack Food: Anything and everything. In later years, he became interested in nutrition and ate egg whites, brown rice and meat. 

Stories:

Pertaining to golf - One day Kevin was having a tough day with his putting on the course. He had a new Ping putter. After many holes, he was on the 17th green and missed his putt. He threw the putter up in the air and it landed in a huge evergreen tree. Afraid that his Dad would be angry, he had the assistant pro go out with a ladder and try to  retrieve it. They were both unsuccessful. One year later, the putter finally dropped out of the tree and he told us the story.

Kevin never had any money in his pockets. Although he worked, he never knew what he did with his money. After he passed away, a homeless man showed up at his wake and told us that every weekend night when Kevin would be waiting for a cab to go home, whatever money he had left in his pockets, whether it was one dollar or ten, he would give the money to the homeless man for food. Kevin had a big heart.  [Note: Kevin had an account with Black and White Taxi in Troy, NY which was set up by his father so that Kevin would always have a ride home]
